Q: Why Should I
Worry About My Dryer and Dryer Vent?
A: A dirty or badly installed
vent can be a serious fire hazard. It also costs you
time and money. A dirty dyer vent is a severe fire
hazard and this will cost you enormous amount of time
and money. A dirty dryer and dryer vent line will
increase your energy bill.
Some important facts from C.P.S.C.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that
over 15,500 dryer related fires occur each year. The
CPSC reports that the most frequent starting point for
these fires was the dryer vent area. The typical
scenario is simple: the dryer overheats, the lint
catches fire and the fire is then helped by combustibles
in the immediate vicinity (these fires can smolder for
hours going unnoticed until after you've gone to bed or
left your house for an errand.)
If your vent is clogged with lint or otherwise
obstructed (e.g. a birds nest or crushed vent) your
clothes will take longer to dry and your dryer can
overheat. If your laundry takes more than one cycle to
dry your clothes it's time to act - your vent needs
servicing.
When there is heavily blockage inside the
dryer vent your clothing will take longer period of time
to dry. Some of the main reason the blockage takes place
is because birds build a nest inside dryer vent line and
broken vent pipe.
Q: How Do You Clean
The Dryer Vent?
A:
Dryer vent cleaning is done with a brush and vacuum
system to the entire length of the vent. The dyer vent
line is cleaned with a commercial truck mounted vacuum
with the power of 20,000CFM and 300PSI. First the vacuum
gets attach to the vent line on the out side of the
house, and then a brush is used to scrape the inner line
of the dryer vent line. The last step is, to feed
reverse snake jet to remove all fine lint. All of this
lint ends up in the vacuum leaving the dryer vent line
clean.
We set up our vacuum inside the home and connect it
to the main vent. Then, usually from the outside, we
"snake" in a rotating brush which brushes the lint off
of the vent walls. The vacuum sucks away the lint that's
brushed loose.
The process is clean so don't worry about a mess.
Q: How Often Should
I Clean My Dryer Vent?
A: This depends on many
factors: how much laundry you do, if you have pets that
shed hair, if your dryer vent is long and/or has several
turns in it, etc. As a general rule of thumb though, you
should have the vent cleaned at least every 2 years.
It's really something which needs to be maintained. Just
because the dryer seems to be working fine is definitely
not a good reason to put off cleaning it. The dryer and
dyer vent line must be cleaned every two years otherwise
there is chance of a fire starting. The homes that have
pets and long dyer vent lines with, several turns must
be cleaned on annual bases.
Q: How Long Does it

dryer and dryer vent cleaning takes about one — two

Commercial dyer vent lines take up twice as
much time to clean up compare to residential lines.
